This alternate view of the "Metamorphosis" skirt simulates a weight change, but the figure is still visible underneath the dress, reminding the viewer of how thin the body used to be. The skirt is made from printed silk charmeuse, printed silk chiffon and printed tulle. The accompanying snood is made from a burnout velvet and simulates neck fat that hides the formerly thin neck within. All of the fabric was screen printed and painted by hand with the Metamorphosis print. The print was inspired by Jenny Saville's portraits and the idea of disfiguring the body through extremes in weight and extreme weight change. |
